Paul has trained and practised in Scotland. He has recently relocated back to Northern Ireland with his wife and family. Since qualifying with honours he has held a variety of general practice positions , providing quality dental care for his patients. Paul is a committed and enthusiastic practitioner who has developed interests and wider skills in paediatric and cosmetic dentistry. He provides inhalational sedation (‘laughing gas’) for his anxious patients.
His overarching principled approach to dentistry means that his patients are always central to their care. As such Paul believes in a holistic patient journey where any negative image or previous experience of dentistry can be addressed to make their visit with Foyle Dental Spa truly life changing. Paul understands that the challenges of modern dentistry are not solely focused in providing the patient with the beautiful smile they want but also centre on making that connection with people, founded on trust in the dentist and giving control to the patient, so as to address any underlying anxiety and therefore allowing people access to the smile they always wanted.
He also holds a first class honours degree in Anatomy and has recently completed a Masters degree in Healthcare, Law and Ethics. He still lectures in Dundee University on the Law and Professionalism Course in the dental school and was, until moving home to Northern Ireland, a part-time supervising clinician for the undergraduates. He has consequently broader interests in Medical and dental law and in mediation of healthcare disputes.
Away from the dental clinic Paul is found on many a weekend working on the family farm in Coleraine and enjoys the very different stresses of this job!
